MOSCOW, May 5 (RIA Novosti) - The assets of the Moscow Region Podmoskovny School, founded by jailed tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, have been frozen by the Prosecutor General's Office, Khodorkovsky's press service said Friday.

The former chief of embattled oil company Yukos is currently serving an eight-year sentence for fraud and tax evasion in a Siberian colony.

"On May 4, an examining magistrate of the Prosecutor General's Office announced an order to seize properties and land owned by the Podmoskovny School in Koralovo. The Prosecutor General's Office put a ban on any disposal of the properties and land," the press service said in a statement.

The order did not specify on which court ruling it was based.

"It also remains unclear through which investigations the school's assets have been frozen," the statement said.

Khodorkovsky's press service said the school was founded 12 years ago for orphans, children of dead servicemen, and children from poor families.
