MOSCOW, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's government Thursday gave general approval to a concept for the development of the country's corporate law until 2008.
Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov asked the government to approve the draft concept, but ordered the Economic Development and Trade Ministry "to fill within a month all the gaps [in corporate legislation] that hamper our life and work."
Economics minister German Gref said the concept outlined four main areas of reform: protection of property rights, which includes tools to settle corporate disputes; improvement of corporate governance; forms of incorporation; and the development of a law to regulate the operation and integration of corporate structures.
