Russia's M2 money supply grows 3.1% in Apr., 5.2% in 4M06

MOSCOW, May 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Central Bank announced Wednesday that the country's M2 money supply grew 3.1% in April 2006, from 6.169 trillion rubles ($220.7 bln) on April 1 to 6.360 trillion rubles ($235.5 bln) on May 1.

The M2 money supply has grown by 5.2% since the start of the year, the Central Bank said.

The M0 money supply (cash in circulation) increased from 1.928 trillion rubles ($71.4 bln) on April 1 to 2.27 trillion rubles ($75 bln) on May 1, while the amount of non-cash funds rose from 4.240 trillion rubles ($157 bln) to 4.332 trillion rubles ($160 bln).

Russia's M2 is defined by the CBR as total cash in circulation outside banks, plus ruble funds on accounts of resident non-financial organizations and individuals.
