NAZRAN, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Two militants were killed and a militant base was discovered in a special operation in Ingushetia, the North Caucasus republic's security agencies said Saturday.

"A militant base was discovered in a forest area near Psedakh. Two militants, who tried to put up armed resistance, were killed," the source said.

According to the Federal Security Service's Ingushetia department, the militants were preparing explosive devices to carry out terrorist attacks in the republic.

Department officials also said the militants had come to Russia from Turkey via Azerbaijan, adding that the cache contained components to make 150 explosive devices, firearms and ammunition, as well as other military items.

An investigation is underway.
