Syria has made a proposal to Russia on setting up a center in the Middle Eastern country to service Russian-made aircraft, Syria's transportation minister said Friday. 
Officials in Russia played down media speculation Friday that North Korea's secretive leader Kim Jong-il had entered the country.
Western media reported earlier in the day citing a South Korean newspaper that the 65-year-old communist leader's armored train had crossed the Russian border. 
A summit of the Eurasian Economic Community (Eurasec) - a club comprising Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Belarus - will review the organization's economic policy, the establishment of a customs union and adopt a document on bolstering of Eurasec's positions on the international arena.
