Since February 2005, Boris Nemtsov, an ex-leader of Russian Union of Right Forces, has been working in Ukraine as presidential adviser following the 2004 "orange" revolution in the ex-Soviet republic, which brought a Western-leading government to power.
But Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky, whose party also failed to win the 5% of the 2003 vote needed to take up seats in parliament, told a news conference in Strasbourg that he had no intention of following suit.
"I am working in Russia," he said. "And as soon as I succeed, the situation in Ukraine will change for the better as well."
"I enjoy watching [prime minister-designate Yulia] Tymoshenko on television, but real work and political cooperation is a separate matter," he said.
