Russia drafts official statement on diplomats' murder for UN
The document calls on all countries to proactively cooperate to seek out and bring to justice the masterminds and perpetrators of the murders, and to assist the Iraqi government in ensuring security for foreign diplomats in the country.
On Sunday, Arab television channel Al Jazeera reported, in reference to an Internet statement made by al-Qaeda in Iraq, that terrorists had executed the four men in revenge for what they claimed was "the torture, killing and expulsion of our brothers and sisters by the infidel Russian government" in Chechnya.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday that Fyodor Zaytsev, 27; Anatoly Smirnov, 32; Rinat Agliulin, 28; and Oleg Feodseyev, 45, had died serving their country, and showed strength and heroism.
