A Ukrainian firm supplied China and Iran with six long-range cruise missile in 2000-2001, Russia's defense minister said Friday. Sergei Ivanov, who is also a deputy prime minister, said Ukraine's Progress firm had supplied six Soviet Kh-55 Granat missiles (NATO reporting name AS-15 Kent) with nuclear capacity to China and another six missiles to Iran, adding that the authorities had been informed and an investigation started. "This is the grossest violation of the control regime over missile technologies," Ivanov said. 
Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] is seeking to establish itself as the world's leading oil and gas company, the Russian energy giant's chief executive said Friday. "Our aim is leadership of the global oil and gas market," Alexei Miller told a shareholders' meeting. 
Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov denied Friday U.S. media reports that Iranian missile specialists were trained at an aerospace university in southern Russia. "We checked this information and confirmed it was a hoax," Ivanov, who is also deputy prime minister, told a news conference. 
Russia's newest investment index will open Friday at 616.02 points, up 3.35% on the previous day's trading, following Thursday evening's sessions on major world trading floors.
