Russia's security service said Monday that 12 militants had been killed in the southern republic of Ingushetia during a security services operation last night, and that four of the bodies, including terrorist leader Shamil Basayev, had been identified. 
Monday is a day of mourning in Russia for the victims of a horrific air crash in Siberia that claimed over 100 lives. 
Russia's security chief said Monday that Shamil Basayev, Russia's most wanted terrorist for a string of attacks that claimed hundreds of lives, had been killed in southern Russian. 
Net inflow of foreign investment in the Russian economy equaled $11 billion in the first half of 2006 and direct foreign investment totaled $14.1 billion, the economic development and trade minister said Monday.

"Basayev and a number of militants were eliminated in Ingushetia last night," Nikolai Patrushev, the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), told President Vladimir Putin. 
Russia expects the Iraqi government to take urgent measures to bring to justice the murderers of five Russian diplomats killed in Baghdad in June, Russia's foreign minister said Monday. 
Russia's investment fund will reach at least 145 billion rubles (about $5.37 billion) by 2007, the economic development and trade minister said Monday. 
The leader of Ukraine's pro-Russia Party of Regions called Monday for an improvement in Russian-Ukrainian relations.
