MAKHACHKALA, September 1 (RIA Novosti) - The deputy head of a district in Daghestan, a republic in Russia's North Caucasus, has been hospitalized after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car, the local interior ministry said Friday.
Aliomar Khamzatov, 50, deputy head of the Novolaksky district of Daghestan on the Chechen border, received stomach and leg wounds in the attack, the ministry said.
Criminal investigations have been launched into the suspected murder attempt.
