ST. PETERSBURG, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Northwest Telecom (RTS: SPTL) said Wednesday its net profit in the first half of 2006, calculated to International Accounting Standards, increased 0.49% on last year's figure, to 1.031 billion rubles ($38.51 million).
The largest telecommunications provider in Russia's northwest region said its core business has brought 9.83 billion rubles ($367.2 million) in revenue between January and June, according to non-audited financial reports. Expenditures totaled 8.014 billion rubles ($299.36 million).
Earnings from services to telecommunications operators more than quadrupled on the same period last year, to 2.266 billion rubles ($84.65 million), a Northwest Telecom news release said.
Data transfer services brought in 881 million rubles ($32.91 million), 44.3% more than over the same period last year.
