MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - A fire has emerged in a depository for electric cables in southern Russia covering 500 square meters (5,400 sq. ft.), a source in the city's firefighting service said Saturday.
The fire broke out on the first floor in a five-story building owned by a smelter, and firefighters managed to localize it.
"The high temperature inside the storehouse is obstructing the work of fire brigades," the source said.
The stories above the first floor are leased to companies, and some people refused to leave the building.
Fifteen firefighting crews are working on the site.
