About 80 members of the Locals movement of young political ecologists from the Moscow Region joined the second demonstration in a week outside the diplomatic mission following the arrest of four Russian military officers in Tbilisi.
The first demonstration was held Friday when young ultranationalists from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia tried to approach the embassy, carrying the party's flags and shouting "Shame on Saakashvili!" in reference to President Mikheil Saakashvili. A pig's head was also reportedly launched into the embassy building, breaking a window.
Although the Russian officers were released and returned to Moscow Monday, the organizers of the Tuesday's demonstration said they were protesting against West-leaning Saakashvili's policies toward Russia as a whole.
At first, activists staged a scene from "Elephant and Pug," a well-known Russian fable. A small dog wrapped in the Georgian flag jumped and barked at two young men wearing a costume of an elephant with a Russian tricolor. Another man in camouflage imitated a NATO soldier giving orders to the dog.
After that, several activists allegedly started throwing eggs at the Embassy's building and shouting "Long live Russia!"
Police detained the youths, broke up the rally and blocked nearby streets.
On Monday, the General Prosecutors' Office launched a criminal investigation against an unidentified man caught on camera running out of the embassy building and allegedly assaulting a protestor during Friday's protest.
