Russia's foreign minister called on the United States and North Korea Saturday to take a more flexible approach to their standoff over U.S. external financing restrictions to help six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program out of the deadlock.
Russia's foreign minister said Saturday that the country will resist any attempts to use the UN Security Council for punishing Iran over its nuclear ambitions. 
The Russian foreign minister said Saturday it is inadvisable to recognize North Korea as a nuclear power. The UN Security Council on October 14 passed a resolution on North Korea following its underground nuclear test explosion, condemning the test and imposing arms and financial sanctions.
The problem around the giant Sakhalin II oil and gas project on Russia's largest Far East island may be resolved through talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
