* At the 2006 GF Handball Women's World Cup in Aarhus, Denmark (ended November 19):

Russia won the title, edging past Romania 29:28 in the final. Denmark won bronze, beating Ukraine 24:20

* At the World Beach Handball Championships in Brazil (ended November 19):

- The Russian women's team won bronze, beating Bulgaria 2:0 (13-8, 15-9) in the bronze-medal match. Brazil won gold, beating Germany 2:0 (20-18, 16-12) in the final.

- The Russian men's team took 9th place. Brazil won gold, beating Turkey 2:0 (19-18, 22-16) in the final. Spain won bronze, defeating Egypt 2:1 (20:15, 6:17, 6:2) in the bronze-medal match.

* At the $3.7 million ATP Tennis Masters Cup, involving the season's top men's tennis players, in Shanghai, China (ended November 19):

No.3-seed Nikolai Davydenko failed to advance to the semifinals, losing to Rafael Nadal (2, Spain) 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 in his last Gold Group match. World No.1 and top-seed Roger Federer (Switzerland) won the title, beating James Blake (8, U.S.) 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 in the final

* Russia's soccer champions CSKA Moscow retained the title, regardless of the result in the remaining match, trouncing Luch-Energia Vladivostok 4:0 away. Spartak Moscow secured silver and a berth in the 2007/2008 UEFA Champions League tournament, beating FC Rostov 4:3 away.
