WARSAW, December 8 (RIA Novosti) - Warsaw will lift its veto on Russia-EU talks on a new partnership deal if Moscow ends its ban on meat imports from Poland within 50 days, the foreign minister said Friday.

Warsaw's veto scuppered the launch of Russia-EU negotiations November 24 on a new cooperation agreement. The existing Partnership and Cooperation Agreement will expire in late 2007.

"Warsaw is ready for a compromise and will abandon the veto if Moscow promises to abolish its embargo on meat supplies from Poland within 50 days from the start of negotiations on the [Russia-EU] agreement," Anna Fotyga said.

Moscow banned meat imports from Poland November 10, citing veterinary violations. Russian President Vladimir Putin said in late November that his country had no claims against Polish meat, but objected to products of third countries imported via Poland.

Poland has also demanded that Moscow ratify the Energy Charter, and a transit protocol to the Charter, which would oblige Russia to liberalize its oil and gas sector.
