VLADIVOSTOK, December 28 (RIA Novosti) - Three passengers of a private helicopter have been missing since Tuesday when the aircraft disappeared in the Primorye Territory in Russia's Far East, a local emergency services official said Thursday.

"The helicopter with three people on board left a village near the town of Arsenyev on December 26, but failed to arrive to its destination on schedule," the official said.

Local witnesses confirmed seeing a Mi-2 helicopter flying at a low altitude over the trees.

A team of eight rescuers left a local emergencies headquarters to an area where the aircraft that belongs to the Association of Small Aviation might have disappeared, the source said.

"We are investigating the possible air crash," the official said.

The Mi-2 is an 8-passenger utility helicopter with a flight range of about 600 kilometers (370 miles).
