NATO has not yet discussed U.S. plans to deploy elements of its missile defense system in Europe, a spokesman said Wednesday. 
"We discussed the issue and agreed to instruct those people who can address it in a professional way to work on it," Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov told journalists following intergovernmental talks in the Uzbek capital. "It is an urgent and sensitive issue." 
Addressing a meeting of the council overseeing priority national projects and demographic policy, Vladimir Putin said: "This country loses over 700,000 people annually. Losing people of working age - men account for 80% of these - remains a tough problem," he said. 
Members of the Public Chamber have slammed the U.S. State Department's annual country report on human rights practices that sharply criticizes Russia, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Wednesday. 
Russia has refuted Iran's claim Monday that the countries had resolved all outstanding financial issues regarding the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in south Iran. 
Russia has called on North Korea to restore its membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Russia's chief delegate to the IAEA said Wednesday.
