MOSCOW, March 7 (RIA Novosti) - The feasibility study for the proposed Kozmino oil port as a final point in the East Siberia - Pacific Ocean pipeline is environmentally safe, Russia's technical standards body said Wednesday.
Konstantin Pulikovsky, the head of the Federal Environmental, Engineering, and Nuclear Supervision Agency (Rostekhnadzor), approved the feasibility study March 7, the watchdog said.
The Kozmino port is designed to receive deepwater vessels with deadweight of up to 300,000 metric tons and export oil supplies of 80 million metric tons (586.4 million barrels) per year.
The East Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline is expected to pump up to 1.6 million barrels per day of crude from Siberia to Russia's Far East, which will then be sent on to China and the Asia-Pacific region.
