MOSCOW, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - March 21 was the warmest the Russian capital has experienced in 125 years, a top meteorologist said Wednesday.
Alexei Lyakhov, head of the hydro-meteorological bureau for Moscow and the Moscow Region, said the temperature climbed above 13 degrees Centigrade (55 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day, and exceeded the previous record of 12.7 degrees Centigrade (54.86 Fahrenheit) registered for March 21 in 1990.
"March 21, 2007 has been the warmest in Moscow for the entire 125-year history of meteorological observations," Lyakhov said.
