19:48 09/04/2007
MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has imposed restrictions on meat imports from some enterprises in seven countries over salmonellosis concerns, the agricultural watchdog said Monday.
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight said in a news release that salmonella has been detected in large batches of meat delivered from the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil and Uruguay since the beginning of 2007.
"The service is asking the veterinary services of the countries that have delivered dangerous and poor quality meat products to the Russian market to investigate every single case of mala fide supplies and take measures to prevent similar instances in the future," the body said.
