United Civil Front leader Kasparov detained in Moscow - police

The leader of the oppositional United Civil Front, world chess champion Garry Kasparov, as well as two young opposition activists, have been detained in downtown Moscow, a police source said Saturday.
MOSCOW, April 14 (RIA Novosti) - The leader of the oppositional United Civil Front, world chess champion Garry Kasparov, as well as two young opposition activists, have been detained in downtown Moscow, a police source said Saturday.

"They have really been detained near Pushkinskaya Square. Preliminarily, for calls to break through the cordon and storm the OMON special purpose police detachment," the source said.

Earlier, it was reported that a March of Dissent is scheduled for Saturday in central Moscow and will gather supporters and members of the Other Russia that includes the People's Patriotic Union led by former Premier Mikhail Kasyanov, the banned National Bolshevik Party, the United Civil Front led by Kasparov and the Republican Party.

Some 9,000 policemen have been summoned to provide security in Moscow.
