The tower crane collapsed killing four Wednesday. No other casualties have been reported. A special commission has been established to investigate the incident and local prosecutors have also launched a probe to try and find the cause of the accident.
Igor Klishta, chief expert at the Boguchany HPP, said: "The administration of the Boguchany HPP has pledged assistance to any injured workers and financial compensation to relatives of those killed."
The construction of the Boguchany HPP started back in the 1980s, but virtually came to a halt in 1994. Electricity monopoly Unified Energy System (UES) of Russia transferred control of the HPP to HydroOGK in February 2005.
The project's completion is considered a priority with the government instructed to provide assistance to the HPP launch in 2010.
