Russian prosecutors hand N. Caucasus terror case over to court -1

MOSCOW, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has forwarded a criminal case against the members of an international terrorist organization active in the North Caucasus to the Supreme Court of the republic of Karachayevo-Circassia.

Five people have been charged with committing terrorist acts by an organized group, illegal weapons trafficking and the killing of law enforcement officers.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the criminal group, consisting of over 12 residents of the republic of Karachayevo-Circassia, was active in the republic between 1999 and February of 2006.

The office said that in 2006, the group's leader and six other members were killed and five detained.
