MOSCOW, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russian state-run nuclear fuel producer TVEL will supply nuclear fuel for a nuclear research reactor in Uzbekistan, the company said Thursday.
Under a contract signed between TVEL, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the nuclear physics institute of the Uzbek Academy of Science in June, TVEL will deliver low-enriched uranium to the research reactor in December, the company said in a statement.
TVEL will deliver nuclear fuel in accordance with the Russian-U.S. program, Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors (RERTR), aimed at reducing the potential threat of spreading highly enriched nuclear materials, the statement said.
TVEL also plans to deliver nuclear fuel for a research reactor in the nuclear center Dalat, Vietnam, in September under the RERTR program, the statement said.
