ST. PETERSBURG, June 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is planning to sign a number of lucrative contracts during an international naval show in St. Petersburg on June 28-July 1, a senior industry official said Wednesday.

The International Maritime Defense Show 2007 in Russia's second largest city will host 220 companies, including 37 foreign firms.

"Many contracts will be signed at the show," said Boris Alyoshin, head of the Federal Agency for Industry. "I think it will mean billions of dollars [in deals]."

A source at the Russian state-run arms exporter, Rosoboronexport, said his company planned to sign agreements with the French Thales company and an Indonesian company without disclosing details of the deals.

Rosoboronexport earlier said Russia's naval arms exports would total about $2 billion in 2007.
