CHELYABINSK, July 24 (RIA Novosti) - British company Kingfisher is building a store for home-improvement supplies, trading under the Castorama brand, in the Chelyabinsk Region, according to the region's ministry of economy.

The new store will be near the city of Chelyabinsk, in the town of Kopeisk, and near the German store Metro Cash and Carry.

The decision to launch the project was made during negotiations between Kopeisk's municipal authorities and the U.K.'s Kingfisher group.

The company Castorama Russia is part of the Kingfisher group, which is first in Europe and third in the world in terms of number of stores selling home-improvement goods. Its retail network has more than 650 stores in 11 countries.

The store in Chelyabinsk is expected to open in the year 2008. Total investment will be $20 million, and the store will employ 250 people.
