PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Police in Russia's Far East have seized in the past 24 hours more than 100 metric tons of salmon illegally caught in the Pacific, a police spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Zhanna Bakayeva said the fish was discovered in the Kamchatka Region, when smugglers tried to transport it in trucks using false documents.
Another 30 metric tons of salmon and 300 kilograms of red caviar were confiscated from two plants in the region, which failed to produce any appropriate documentation, the spokeswoman said.
