MOSCOW, August 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's energy minister, Viktor Khristenko, and the Iraqi oil minister plan to discuss energy cooperation Thursday, a spokesman for the Russian Industry and Energy Ministry said.

Upon his arrival for a three-day visit in Moscow Wednesday, Iraq's Husayn al-Shahristani said he would disclose new terms for oil operations in Iraq.

"At meetings with government officials and representatives of a number of oil companies, we will tell Russia about new terms for operations in Iraq, proceeding from the fact that Iraq will cooperate with those companies that offer the best terms for Iraq, no matter what country these companies come from," the Iraqi minister said.

In early July, an Iraqi Cabinet spokesman said a draft law on oil approved by the country's government had been submitted to parliament. Later in the day Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a news conference that the country's parliament would consider "the most important draft law for Iraq" at a session on July 4.

A spokesman for Russian oil company LUKoil said its representative was planning to hold a bilateral meeting with the Iraqi minister, without specifying either the agenda or date, while Zarubezhneft, Russia's leading foreign trade company in the oil and gas sector, refused to say whether it would meet with al-Shahristani.
