Pit bull kills six-year-old girl in Far East - police

VLADIVOSTOK, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - A pit bull has attacked and killed a six-year-old girl, one of its owner's children, in a village in Russia's Far East, a police source said Friday.

Police said that when the little girl approached the year-old dog, which had been caged for two months, the animal suddenly attacked her, biting her repeatedly.

Horrified onlookers were unable to save the girl, who died instantly. The dog was shot dead by local residents.
