Russian Minister of Health and Social Development Mikhail Zurabov will open the forum, and the ceremony will also be attended by Russian lawmakers, federal and regional executive officials, presidential administration and government members.
On Friday Zurabov will deliver a report on developing social security in Russia at the event, which will gather more than 1,200 of top social security officials, ministers, and scientists from 129 countries.
Russia will be represented by the country's Ministry of Health and Social Development, the Pension Fund, the Social Insurance Fund, and the Non-State Pension Fund Gazfond.
"The forum will be a landmark event in international collaboration in this sector, allowing participants to take stock of current trends and developments in the field of social security, and to reinforce the role of ISSA members in promoting dynamic social security," Secretary General of the ISSA Hans-Horst Konkolewsky said.
The event will also mark a triple celebration: the 80th anniversary of the ISSA, 50 years since Russia joined the ISSA, and 40 years since the country last hosted the ISSA General Assembly in the city of Leningrad, now St. Petersburg.
The ISSA, founded in 1927, is an international organization uniting more than 400 national social security organizations from over 150 countries.
