KAZAN, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - Nine people were killed in a road accident early on Tuesday near Kazan, the capital of Russia's Tatarstan republic, local emergencies service said.
A Mercedes minibus collided with a Scania truck at a major local highway, 130 km (80 miles) southeast of the capital. Of the 15 people onboard the minibus, nine died instantly and six were hospitalized with various injuries.
The truck driver was not injured in the accident.
Firefighters, rescuers and investigators are still working at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the accident are being established.
