MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a live question and answer session Thursday that he is against introducing Internet censorship in Russia's domain.

"In the Russian Federation there is no control over the world wide web, in the Russian Internet segment. Besides I think there is no point from the view of a technological solution to the problem," Putin said.

At the same time, the Russian president said that law enforcement officers should ensure laws are observed.

"We should press for Russian laws to be observed, and prevent the distribution of child pornography and financial crimes being committed. But this is law enforcement work," Putin said. "Total control and the work of law enforcement agencies are different things."
