MOSCOW, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow authorities plan to build up to 200 high-rise tower blocks in the Russian capital by 2015, a first deputy mayor of Moscow said on Friday.

"Around 200 high rise buildings, each at least 30 floors high, are expected to be built by 2015," Vladimir Resin said at the opening ceremony of an international investment forum.

"The new high rise buildings will alter the facelessness of the city's outskirts, and become architectural landmarks" he said.

The construction of high-rise blocks in the outskirts is to take place as part of the New Ring of Moscow program.

The center of Moscow is also currently undergoing a facelift as construction continues on the $12 billion Moscow City. The downtown complex will have a total of 15 skyscrapers, including the soon-to-be famous Federation Tower, the East Tower of which is set to become the tallest building in Europe at some 506 meters (1,660 feet).
