VLADIVOSTOK, November 19 (RIA Novosti) -- Thirty five crew members on a Russian freighter, that sank in the Sea of Japan on Sunday have been rescued, one person is still missing, emergency services said Monday.

The Kastor-1, carrying timber, sank in a storm 180 miles south of Russia's Far East port of Nakhodka.

A rescue vessel, the Lazurit, is continuing the search for the missing sailor.

"We hope that he is alive and in a life raft. The water temperature is 14 degrees Celsius (57.2 Fahrenheit), and the current in this part of the sea is warm," a spokesperson for the emergency services said.
