MOSCOW, December 12 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin has appointed Sergei Kiriyenko, Russia's top civilian nuclear official, to head state nuclear power corporation Rosatom, the Kremlin press office said on Wednesday.
Putin signed into law a bill on the corporation on December 3. The corporation will be formed on the basis of the Russian Federal Nuclear Power Agency (Rosatom) and will have the same name.
In line with legislation, the Rosatom corporation will be fully controlled by the federal government and will incorporate the Atomenergoprom joint stock company, all civilian and military nuclear facilities and enterprises, research institutions and organizations working in areas of nuclear and radioactive security.
