Russia's Constitutional Court to start work in Petersburg May 21

Russia's Constitutional Court will begin its work in St. Petersburg on May 21, 2008, following a presidential decree signed on Sunday.
ST. PETERSBURG, December 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Constitutional Court will begin its work in St. Petersburg on May 21, 2008, following a presidential decree signed on Sunday.

The proposal to move the court from Moscow to Russia's second largest city was made by St. Petersburg's legislature.

In accordance with the decree, the Constitutional Court's movement from Moscow to St. Petersburg will begin on February 1 and end on May 20.

A Kremlin spokesman earlier said the opening ceremony of Russia's new Constitutional Court building in St. Petersburg will be held on December 25.

The spokesman said that besides the main Senate building, the Constitutional Court complex includes a residential block for staff and a hospital.
