Russian believers dive into ice-cold river on Orthodox Epiphany

Russian Orthodox believers including clergymen defied the winter cold in Moscow and took a dip in the Moskva River on Saturday to celebrate Epiphany.

MOSCOW, January 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Orthodox believers including clergymen defied the winter cold in Moscow and took a dip in the Moskva River on Saturday to celebrate Epiphany.

In Orthodox Christianity the feast day commemorates the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan.

This morning Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II held a liturgy at Moscow's Epiphany Cathedral.
