VORONEZH, January 30 (RIA Novosti) - Three suspects in a bus stop blast that killed one person in central Russia on Tuesday have been arrested, a local police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Those detained, including the suspected organizer of the blast, were caught carrying firearms, drugs and explosive parts.

The explosion went off at 4:24 a.m. Moscow time (1:24 a.m. GMT) in Oryol's Sovetsky district killing one man and shattering windows in nearby shops. No other casualties were reported.

"We believe that the explosive device, which had a charge of about 100 grams of TNT equivalent, was made by the victim himself," an aide to the head of the Oryol Region's investigative committee, Olga Bernikova said.

The dead man, identified as a 32-year-old Oryol resident, had been working for the alleged planner of the explosion. Another man, accused of transporting the explosive device, has also been arrested.

Investigators believe that the suspected organizer, a local businessman and a former prisoner, had intended to use the explosive device to settle a vendetta against a different person, but the bomb went off unexpectedly when it was being transported, Bernikova said.

Investigators said the blast could be linked to a turf war between local gangs.

In 2004 the city of Voronezh, located in the same part of the country, was hit by three separate blasts at bus stations. One 26-year-old woman was killed and ten other people were injured.
