Traffic police have seized a large batch of drugs outside Moscow, the city's law-enforcement bodies said on Sunday.
MOSCOW, February 3 (RIA Novosti) - Traffic police have seized a large batch of drugs outside Moscow, the city's law-enforcement bodies said on Sunday.

"Last night, at the 111th km (69th mile) of the Don highway, the traffic police stopped an Ikarus bus going from [Azerbaijan's capital of] Baku to Moscow and found about 100 kilos of hashish in the bus," the law-enforcement bodies said.

Police are checking whether the bus's two drivers and passengers are involved in drug trafficking, the law-enforcement bodies said.

According to official statistics, Russian drug control officers seized over 9,000 kgs of marijuana, over 300 kgs of hashish, more than 120 kgs of opium, some 990 kgs of heroin, 3 kgs of cocaine and over 125 kgs of synthetic drugs in 2007.
