MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's prime minister formally dismissed on Monday the head of the Federal Nuclear Power Agency to allow him to fully devote himself to the Rosatom state corporation, set to take on the agency's functions.

Sergei Kiriyenko, who had headed the agency since 2005, had previously been appointed general director of the state corporation last December and has since "combined the jobs of the agency head and Rosatom state corporation general director," his press-secretary told RIA Novosti.

Under a federal program, the new corporation is tasked with building enough nuclear power plants to ensure that nuclear-generated electricity totals 25-30% of all the electricity consumed in Russia. The figure currently stands at around 16%.
