MOSCOW, February 5 (RIA Novosti) - Audit secrecy in Russia may be annulled, if new amendments to Russia's banking law are passed, a leading business daily said on Tuesday.

Kommersant said Russia's Finance Ministry and Central Bank are preparing amendments, which will allow the country's chief bank and other supervisory authorities to receive any information gathered by auditors at banks, financial and insurance companies.

A new version of the bill obtained by Kommersant obliges auditing companies to report all material breaches of legislation and regulatory requirements to supervisory bodies.

Current auditing law allows auditors to transfer information on their clients only after a court ruling, Kommersant said.

Companies and banks are unanimous in their opinion that the new amendments, if adopted, will annul the notion of audit secrets and provoke mass falsification of audits at banks and financial companies, Kommersant said.
