ST. PETERSBURG, February 5 (RIA Novosti) - A blast in a ten-story apartment block injured at least three in southwest St. Petersburg on Tuesday, a local emergencies spokesman said.
Preliminary reports said the explosion occurred in a maintenance room at about 9:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. GMT).
Rescuers are in attendance and the cause of the blast is being established.
According to initial information a gas blast has been ruled out as the cause. Latest reports suggest the blast could be the result of an explosive device.
