MOSCOW, March 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russian analysts said at a briefing on the Internet Tuesday that they do not believe there will be an Internet crisis or any censorship on the Russian net within the next five years.

IT specialists at Nemertes Research Group, an analytical company, earlier voiced concerns that the Internet could become overloaded by 2010 making access for users problematic.

"If the crisis reaches Russia, it will be after 2010. We have not felt it so far, since the Internet is only starting to develop in Russian regions," said Ivan Zasursky, the head of media culture, communications and convergence at Moscow State University's journalism department.

He also said he did not expect Russia to introduce Internet censorship.

"There will be no censorship on Russian Internet content. However, prosecutions for retrospective statements will be stricter," Zasursky said referring to extremist organizations and content of a similar nature.

Alexander Ovchinnikov, commercial director at Masterhost, echoed his comments. He said, "It is impossible to monitor Internet content intended for publication, and current Internet content can be removed, for example, closing down the site."

Samson Sholademi, a blogger and journalist, described the problem as exaggerated saying that the "burden on computer networks" was not currently excessive.
