ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 28 (RIA Novosti) - A fire that raged for more than 24 hours after a blast ripped through an oil depot in south Russia has been put out, a source with the local emergency services reported on Friday.

The blast occurred at 4:10 p.m. local time (13:10 GMT) on Thursday in Makhachkala, the capital of the Russian republic of Daghestan. There were 6,000 cubic meters of oil in the oil tank at the time of the explosion.

"The fire at the depot and around it was extinguished at 17:45 Moscow time [14:45 GMT]," the source said.

A 29-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe burns and is reported to be in a critical condition.

Police investigators are still attempting to establish the cause of the blast.
