Chechen police search for Internet extremist

MOSCOW, March 30 (RIA Novosti) - Police in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Chechnya are searching for a Chechen resident suspected of spreading calls for terrorist attacks through the Internet, a police source said on Sunday.

The suspect placed calls in the World Wide Web for instigating ethnic strife and committing violent acts against Chechen leaders and federal officials in January. The suspect's identity has been established, however, the suspect has managed to escape, the police source said.

Efforts are under way to track down and detain the suspect, the police source said.
