Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Libya at the invitation of Muammar Qaddafi, Libya's leader, on April 16 and 17, a Kremlin spokesman said on Monday.
Russia's largest political party, United Russia, is holding a two-day party conference this week which will see outgoing President Vladimir Putin invited to become its leader.
