Russia delivers two Su-30 fighters to Algeria
Under a 2006 contract worth about $2.5 billion, the Irkut corporation is set to deliver a total of 28 Su-30MKA fighters to Algeria by 2010. The company has so far supplied six aircraft.
"Two [Su-30] multi-role fighters were delivered to Algeria on May 31 by an An-124 Condor heavy transport plane," a company spokesman said.
The Irkut Corporation, part of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), created in 2006, manufactures variations of the Su-30MK for India, Algeria, and Malaysia.
The Su-30 MKA is a Flanker variant based on the Su-30MKI model and features a customized avionics suite to meet Algerian specifications.
The company said last year it will export 242 multi-role Su-30 Flanker fighters, worth around $7 billion, by 2014.
