MOSCOW, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - A police officer and a civilian were killed in an attack on a police checkpoint in southern Daghestan, in Russia's restive North Caucasus region, a police source said on Friday.
The incident occurred late on Thursday in the Suleiman-Stalsky District. Militants in a Lada opened fire on the police checkpoint and subsequently fled the scene.
The information on the attack has yet to be officially confirmed by law enforcement authorities.
The search for the attackers is underway.
