Russian-German trade could reach a record $64 billion in 2008, the Russian economics ministry said Tuesday following a meeting between the Russian and German economics ministers in Moscow.
MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian-German trade could reach a record $64 billion in 2008, the Russian economics ministry said Tuesday following a meeting between the Russian and German economics ministers in Moscow.

"In 2007, bilateral trade rose 23%, to $53 billion," the ministry said in a statement. "By the end of this year [it] could rise to a new record level of $63-64 billion."

Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina and her German counterpart, Michael Glos, also discussed boosting German direct investment into Russia's real economic sector, which topped $1 billion in 2007 and overall is estimated at $23-25 billion.

At the meeting, the sides also discussed Russia's accession to the WTO.
